Driving under the influence of drugs
How does the police control work?
The presence of drugs, cannabis or any other narcotic product is generally detected by a blood test during a police control.
This type of control is particularly done around festivals in summer. The police suspect that these are places where drugs are consumed.
What happens if the blood test is positive?
If the blood test is positive, the police will immediately withdraw your driver’s license for a minimum of 15 days.
You will also receive a pro justitia – summons to appear before the police court.
The sanctions pronounced by the judge at the police court can be a fine of 1,100 to 11,000 euros.
In addition, the right to drive may be revoked. The judge may also order the driver to take psychological and/or medical tests and/or theoretical and practical driving tests.
